Mother's Day Gift Ideas

Mother’s Day is around the corner, and like every other special occasion that’s happened during the coronavirus pandemic, this year it feels different. Going for dinner or brunch may no longer be an option, but we’ve got some Mother’s Day gift ideas that you can pull together quickly and work for a wide range of budgets.

Write some rainchecks

Remember when you were a kid and would create those coupon books of things you promised to do for your mom when she cashed one in? Now is a great time to revisit that. Instead of chores though, fill it with things that you can’t wait to do with your mom once it’s safe to do so. Think about her favourite restaurants to eat at, the spa treatment she’s missing the most, or even simple things like going to the beach!

Buy some gift cards

If you want to add some extra impact to your coupon book, buy some gift cards to your mom’s favourite places and add them in. It’s a great way to support local businesses and show that you’re hopeful for a post-pandemic future.

Go green

If your mom has a green thumb or has hinted that she wants to get started in gardening, an indoor herb garden may be a great way to pique that interest! Indoor herb gardens can stay in the house without taking up too much space, and bring some of the calm that comes with tending to a real garden without the commitment. If you’re handy you can try a DIY version, or you can check out some of the tech-savvy indoor gardens available online.

Give a gift that gives back

Now is a great time to bring some extra light to Mother’s Day by giving a gift that also supports a meaningful cause. Choose a gift that gives back to the community in a way that’s special to your mom to double its impact.

Drop off dinner

Just because you can’t be there for Mother’s Day brunch, doesn’t mean that your mom shouldn’t enjoy a lovely meal. Many local restaurants offer delivery and take out services for their entire menu. Choose your mom’s favourite meal at her favourite restaurant and arrange a porch delivery to brighten her day. Bonus points if you cook the meal yourself!

What are your plans to honour Mom on her special day?
